A15 & A16 recovery

Two roads head north out of Peterborough into Lincolnshire. Both are long, fast single carriageways with few places to stop.

A15

From Peterborough past Glinton and Northborough, around Market Deeping, then on to Bourne and Sleaford. Busy at rush hour with commuters into the city.

A16

From the A47 near Eye, past Crowland and around Spalding, then on to Boston. This stretch used to be the A1073 and was renumbered as the A16 in 2011, so older sat-navs and maps may still call it that.

If you break down on this road

  1. Get off the road if the car still moves: hard shoulder, lay-by, slip road or verge.
  2. Hazards on, everyone out on the side away from traffic, and behind the barrier if there is one.
  3. Can’t get out of a live lane? Keep your seat belt on and call 999.
  4. Call us with the road, the direction and the nearest junction, marker post or lay-by.
